On 11th March - Michael, John and I weeded in south-west corner. Came across a patch of Natal grass to remove.

On 18th March I took a potential new volunteer Tom for a tour around the bushland.
At 9 we had a committee meeting - looked at our activities plan for next year - and decided to experiment with using weed matting to control Black Flag.
Also explored ways of recognizing and celebrating the contribution that Janice Marshall made to the way we manage the bushland. Sadly Janice died last week.

A cool morning - for a change
It has been hot - so it was nice to have a relatively cool morning in the bushland.
Michael, John and I worked mainly in the south-west corner, removing veldgass. Came across a bit of fountain grass that we removed, and some couch grass to spray. Otherwise, just lots of spiders.

Getting lazy - or just short on time
This is a combined post for the past two weeks that John, Michael, and I have been in the bushland.
On the 19th Feb we worked down at the southern end of the bushland - removing veldgrass, natal grass, and a fine crop of ti-trees that had sprung up since our last visit. I am always amazed how big the ti-trees get before we see them! Once we see one of them we usually find a whole lot more little ones to remove.
On the 26th Feb we worked on a patch of veldgrass along the western pathway. All around that patch it looked good, but there were quite a few isolated plants within this area that we concentrated on. The recent rains have given them a bit of a boost, so the veldgrass is beginning to sprout again ...
This is a plant that I didn't recognize - will have to look up the book.
This zamia flower had opened up to reveal the bright red seed pods.
